Professional Grooming Clinique
FAQ
The
health, safety and comfort of all of the pets in our
care is of primary importance to us. We have established
our grooming policies, selected the equipment we use,
and trained our staff with those requirements in mind.
How much does it cost to groom my pet?
Grooming rates vary depending on the breed of your
pet and the type of services you choose. Making a call
directly to our Troy's Trims & Treats Grooming
Clinique and discussing your pet's needs with a
member of our professional grooming staff is the best
way to obtain a quote.
What type of pets does Troy's Trims & Treats Grooming
Clinique groom?
We groom and bath all breeds of dogs and cats. We
have trained groomers who specialize in breed-specific
cuts. Please call us directly for rates and to schedule
an appointment. Your dogs grooming needs will vary
by breed. Some breeds require monthly haircuts and daily
brushing while other dogs require a shampoo and regular
nail clipping. If you have fallen in love with a breed
that requires grooming you already know that grooming
can be expensive.
When should I schedule my puppy's first groom?
Grooming your new puppy should start at 10 weeks of age
(after second vaccination), to let the pup become
acquainted with the sounds of the grooming environment,
noises such as dryers, and other dogs etc. Your groomer
will teach your puppy and you the proper way to brush
and handle the coat. These techniques started early will
imprint on your puppy. The first 6 months of life for a
dog is like the first 5 years for a human. It is very
important to start them early and make the grooming
experience a pleasant experience and not a traumatic
one. Once your dog is conditioned for grooming,
regular grooming is required every 2 months depending
upon the breed.
White Dogs
Dogs with white fur have extra grooming issues that
can cause frustration for many owners. White dogs such
has Poodles, Maltese and Bichons have yellowing problems
with their fur and yucky tear stained eyes.
Tear Stains
The tearing around your pets eyes is called Epiphora.
While not in it's self harmful the Epiphors is a
breeding ground for bacteria. The odor that can
accompany Epiphora is from the bacteria growing around
your dogs eyes and mouth. Angel Eyes is a food additive
that stops the staining from happening internally. Angel
Eyes is safer than using wipes or peroxide these harsh
chemicals can cause additional eye irritation or worse.
What about grooming in the winter?
Many pet owners do not have their pets groomed in the
winter. Why? It's too cold.. It may be cold, but your
pets still need professional grooming. They can be left
longer, even not trimmed at all during the cold months,
but they always need a complete brush out and bathing
that a professional can provide. Nail trimming and ear
cleaning is a must all year round too. When clients let
their pets go through the winter without professional
grooming, their dog ends up coming in with their fur all
matted, and then they need to be clipped very short.
